| آیاتِ قرآنی سے اصطلاحات تصوف کا استنباط: منتخب اردو تفاسیر کا مطالعہ | This research examines the intrinsic connection between the Qur’an and Sufi terminology to demonstrate that Islamic spirituality is deeply rooted in the divine scripture. Sufism—often regarded as the inner dimension of Islam—revolves around concepts like tazkiyah (purification), qurb (divine proximity), fana (annihilation of the self), baqa (subsistence), tawakkul (trust), kashf (unveiling), and ilham (inspiration), which are frequently assumed to be esoteric or extra-Qur’anic. By analyzing six renowned Urdu tafsirs—Tibyan al-Qur’an (Dr. Ghulam Rasool Saeedi), Bayan al-Qur’an (Ashraf Ali Thanwi), Tafsir Naeemi (Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan), Tafsir Haqqani (Abdul Haq Haqqani), Tafsir Hasanat (Abu al-Hasanat Qadri), and Ma’ariful Qur’an (Mufti Muhammad Shafi Usmani)—the study seeks to uncover how these spiritual concepts are derived and explained within Qur’anic verses. A thematic-analytical method was adopted, classifying Sufi terms into three categories: faith-related, ethics-related, and practice-related. Each term was then examined in light of its Qur’anic context and interpreted through the lens of classical Urdu exegesis. The analysis reveals that Sufi terminology is not foreign to the Qur’an but emerges organically from its spiritual teachings. The tafsirs affirm that mystical ideas such as fana, baqa, and muraqabah are supported by Qur’anic evidence and are harmoniously integrated with orthodox Islamic theology. In conclusion, the study validates that Qur’anic spirituality and Sufi tradition are interconnected paths, and when interpreted through classical tafsir, Sufism complements and deepens the understanding of Islam’s inner message. | اعلیٰ تعلیم یافتہ خواتین میں شادی سے گریز كارجحان: اسباب و محرکات کا اسلامی تعلیمات كی روشنی میں جائزہ | The changing social, educational, and economic dynamics of Pakistan have significantly influenced the marital trends of highly educated women, leading to an increasing pattern of marriage aversion or delayed marriages. This phenomenon is not merely a matter of personal preference but the combined outcome of social pressures, psychological concerns, economic challenges, and cultural expectations. Adopting a mixed-methods design, the study collected quantitative data from 150 postgraduate women through structured questionnaires and qualitative insights from 50 parents and Islamic scholars through semi-structured interviews. Islamabad and Rawalpindi were chosen only as sampling sites to represent the urban context. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS through descriptive statistics, correlation, chi-square tests, and regression analysis, while qualitative data were thematically coded. The findings revealed that extravagant wedding rituals, dowry pressures, lack of suitable matches, career priorities, family constraints, fear of losing independence, and unrealistic media portrayals are major contributors to women’s avoidance of marriage. The reliability of scales (Cronbach’s α = .84) and inter-coder agreement (κ = .79) ensured methodological rigor. The study concludes that although these factors strengthen the trend of marriage aversion, Islamic teachings emphasizing simplicity, piety, mutual respect, and compassion provide a comprehensive and balanced framework to address the issue. It is recommended that public awareness campaigns, premarital counseling, and educational reforms be aligned with Islamic principles to foster a dignified and stable marital culture. | Cosmic Evolution in the Light of Quranic Verses: A Study of Selected Tafaseer | The exploration of cosmic evolution through the lens of Quranic verses stands at the intersection of science, theology, and philosophy. This research thesis endeavors to delve into this intricate subject by analyzing selected Tafaseer (commentaries) of the Quran. The Quran, as the primary religious text of Islam, has been a source of contemplation and interpretation for scholars across centuries, offering insights not only into matters of faith but also into the natural world. The overarching objective of this study is to investigate how interpretations of Quranic verses by renowned scholars of Tafaseer shed light on the concept of cosmic evolution. By examining key passages from the Quran alongside the commentaries of scholars such as Al Jawahir Fi Tafseer al Quran, Bayan ul Quran and Tafseer Al Kauthar. This thesis aims to discern the nuances of their understanding regarding the origin, development, and purpose of the cosmos as elucidated within the Quranic framework. The methodology employed in this research involves textual analysis and systematic qualitative method of relevant Quranic verses and their interpretations from selected Tafaseer. Each Tafseer offers unique perspective influenced by linguistic, theological, and philosophical considerations, providing a rich tapestry of insights into the subject matter. Through comparative analysis and synthesis of these interpretations, this thesis aims to construct a comprehensive understanding of cosmic evolution as elucidated within the Quranic discourse. Moreover, this study aims to explore the compatibility between scientific theories of cosmic evolution and the interpretations presented in the selected Tafaseer. By critically examining the language and context of Quranic verses alongside contemporary scientific knowledge, this research seeks to identify areas of convergence and divergence, thereby contributing to the ongoing dialogue between religion and science. Ultimately, this research thesis seeks to enrich the discourse on cosmic evolution by offering a nuanced examination of Quranic verses through the lens of selected Tafaseer. | کتب سیرت میں کلامی مباحث اور ان کی عصری معنویت: منتخب عربی تصانیف کا تجزیاتی مطالعہ | With the dawn of scholarly endeavours to explain the evidences and proofs of the Prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH) and the attempts to compare these with the previous Prophets and their miracles and evidences, it became evident that in order to present the Prophethood and Divine revelation more eloquently and persuasively the logical and rational perspectives are to considered . This was done with a view to provide the rational arguments to address those who might not believe or accept the scriptural proofs from the Qur’an and Sunnah. From the early third century Hijri till now, almost all of the biographers have alluded to these theological questions despite the fact that they never met the Prophet. Hence, in-so-far as these theological readings of the Prophet’s biography are concerned, there are particularly well-known works of earlier scholars including Ash-Shifa bi Ta‘rif Huquq al-Mustafa, Zad al-Ma’ad and Ar-Rawd al-Unuf. This study aims to analyze the available theological debates on prophethood in these three works and in addition it also deals with the modern objections of atheists and orientalists and logical and rational doubts in light of these early works moreover a modern evaluation of these arguments has been presented to highlight the contemporary relevance of these themes. | پا کستا نی جامعات میں مطالعہ مذاہب سےمتعلق نصا بات: عصری تنا ظر میں تجزیاتی مطا لعہ | This study analyzes the curriculum of Religious Studies in Pakistani universities, particularly in the context of contemporary educational, social, and cultural needs. Pakistan is a country with deep-rooted religious, historical, and cultural foundations, where education, society, and national ideology are closely linked with religion. It is a multi-religious state where, alongside Muslims, communities such as Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Parsis, Baha’is, Buddhists, and Kalash also reside. Within this context, it becomes increasingly important for universities to design curricula that not only reflect national values but also align with international academic standards. The central question of this research is whether the current Religious Studies curriculum is capable of addressing modern challenges such as interfaith harmony, religious tolerance, human rights, sectarianism, and extremism. It is therefore crucial to examine whether the curriculum provides balanced knowledge about different religions, considers the academic and cultural needs of minority students, and creates an environment conducive to peaceful coexistence. This research employs a mix methodology, analyzing university curricula, teaching frameworks, and relevant scholarly literature. The findings suggest that while some positive aspects exist, the curriculum still requires both intellectual and practical reforms to adequately address issues of interfaith harmony, religious tolerance, minority needs, sectarianism, and extremism. Hence, universities can play a constructive and effective role in addressing these growing challenges through improvements in curriculum development, teaching methods, teacher training, and research initiatives. In this academic and social context, it is essential to evaluate the curricula, teaching methodologies, research trends, and co-curricular activities related to Religious Studies in Pakistani universities. This paper is presented to fulfill this academic and intellectual need. Keywords: Interfaith Studies, Pakistani Universities, Educational Curriculum, Minorities. |

| تہذیب وثقافت پر تصوف کے اثرات: پنجاب کی خانقاہوں کا تنقیدی مطالعہ | Sufism has played a vital role in shaping the moral, spiritual, and cultural dimensions of Muslim societies, particularly in South Asia. In Punjab, the Khanqahi system served as a powerful medium for transmitting spiritual values and fostering social harmony. The present research aims to explore and critically analyze the impact of Sufism on the cultural and civilizational patterns of Punjab through the study of selected Khanqahs, namely those of Data Ganj Bakhsh (Lahore), Bahauddin Zakariya (Multan), and Baba Farid Ganj Shakar (Pakpattan). This study follows a qualitative research design based on historical, analytical, and interpretive methods. Primary and secondary sources, including classical texts, contemporary research, and field-based observations, were used to collect data. Findings reveal that Sufism significantly influenced Punjab’s cultural identity by promoting moral purification, tolerance, and unity among diverse social groups. It contributed to literature, music, language, and art, thereby enriching the region’s civilizational legacy. However, the study also identifies certain deviations such as ritualism and hereditary practices that diluted the original spirit of Sufism. The research is guided by a socio-religious analytical framework, enabling a balanced understanding of both spiritual and cultural dynamics. The study concludes that the Khanqahi institutions of Punjab not only preserved Islamic spirituality but also shaped a pluralistic and inclusive cultural ethos that continues to define the region’s identity today. These insights hold relevance for contemporary discussions on interfaith harmony and ethical social development. Keywords: Sufism, Khanqahs, Punjab, Culture, Spirituality, Civilizational Impact |

| پاکستانی نوجوانوں میں تصورِ آخرت کا فہم اور اسکے کردار پر اثرات | Understanding of the Concept of the Afterlife among Pakistani Youth and Its Impact on Character Building Abstract This study examines the understanding of the concept of the afterlife among Pakistani youth and analyzes its impact on character development. The primary objective of this research is to explore the extent to which belief in the afterlife influences the moral behavior, social responsibility and psychological orientation of young individuals. To achieve this goal, both qualitative and quantitative research methods were employed. A structured questionnaire comprising twelve questions was developed to effectively assess participants’ views. These questions focused on themes such as self-accountability, moral decision-making, social harmony and altruism. The analysis revealed a significant correlation between a deep understanding of the afterlife and the exhibition of positive moral behaviors. Youth who possess strong belief in the hereafter tend to demonstrate greater honesty, sense of justice, responsibility, and compassion. The findings suggest that promoting awareness of the afterlife within educational and social systems can play a vital role in character building and moral stability. This thesis offers a foundation for further scholarly inquiry into the relationship between religious beliefs and practical behavior among youth. Moreover, the study not only draws upon Qur’anic teachings and Islamic moral principles but also takes into account the specific socio-cultural context of Pakistan, where youth often face intellectual, social, and emotional pressures. In such a setting, the concept of the afterlife provides a spiritual and ideological anchor that encourages self-evaluation, social justice and goodwill. This dimension lends both intellectual depth and practical relevance to the research. | انتہاپسندی اور اس کے مسلم معاشرے پر اثر ات (اسلامی تعلیمات کی روشنی میں تجزیاتی مطالعہ) | This research study critically examines extremism in the context of Muslim societies, defining it not as terrorism or political violence, but as ghulūw a form of excess, exaggeration, or deviation from the balance and moderation prescribed by Islam. Extremism, as conceptualized in this dissertation, refers to the tendency of excess or deficiency (ifrat and tafriṭ) in belief, worship, conduct, and social dealings. The study underscores that Islam, through the concept of ummatan wasaṭan (the balanced community), promotes moderation, rationality, and equilibrium in every aspect of human life. The first chapter explores the conceptual framework of extremism, emphasizing the significance of moderation and identifying its intellectual, psychological, and social causes and manifestations. The second chapter analytically discusses the various forms of extremism manifested in beliefs (i‘tiqādāt), acts of worship (‘ibādāt), and social and transactional behaviors (mu‘āmalāt). The third chapter investigates the multidimensional impacts of extremism on Muslim societies—intellectual and ideological distortion, decline in religious tolerance, sectarian conflicts, disintegration of family and social harmony, and deterioration of political, economic, and educational systems. The fourth chapter proposes a comprehensive framework for countering extremism through intellectual, moral, and educational reform. It emphasizes the necessity of reviving authentic Islamic thought, fostering ethical character-building, strengthening educational and training mechanisms, and establishing a reformed social system based on justice, compassion, and balance. Methodologically, the study employs an analytical and descriptive approach, drawing on primary Islamic sources the Qur’an and Sunnah—along with the works of classical and contemporary scholars. The findings suggest that the eradication of extremism is possible only through the integration of sound knowledge, ethical discipline, and balanced religious understanding. The research concludes that a return to the Islamic principles of moderation and harmony is essential for restoring intellectual stability and social well-being within Muslim societies. | مشترکہ عوامی ملکیت کے پاکستانی قوانین: اسلامی تناظر میں تجزیاتی مطالعہ | An Analytical Study of Pakistani laws of Joint Public Property in the Islamic Context Abstract: Allah Almighty created the earth and everything in it for the needs and benefit of humankind. The real owner is Allah, however, Shariah has granted humans the right of temporary ownership, but this right can only be acquired through the means prescribed by Shariah, such as possession, contracts, inheritance, and production. Without these means, establishing ownership over anything is not permissible. However, there are certain things that fall under the category of publicly permitted resources (mubahat ‘ammah) in which all people are equal partners, such as water, fire, pastures, and pathways. In Islamic legal terminology, this concept is called Shirkat al-Ibahah, while in common language it is referred to as public common ownership. This dissertation analyzes the fundamental issues regarding what Shirkat al-Ibahah (public common ownership) is, which items fall under it, and what principles and rulings have been mentioned in the Quran and Hadith regarding them. The research also examines examples from the early Islamic society as well as modern forms, such as parks, canals, tube well water, forests, and other public utilities. Furthermore, the study reviews the official laws formulated in Pakistan regarding these modern forms, in order to determine the extent to which these laws conform to Islamic principles and where reform is needed. Since the concept of public common ownership is directly established from the Qur’an and Sunnah, there was a lack of juristic guidance concerning new situations arising in the modern era. To fill this gap, this research has utilized the primary sources of Shariah and authentic juristic texts to conduct a scholarly analysis of these new forms, so that their Shariah rulings can be determined in accordance with contemporary requirements. Keywords: Partnership, public property, Shirkat al-Ibahah, Modern forms of public common ownership, Pakistani laws, Publicly permitted resources. |
