| آیاتِ قرآنی سے اصطلاحات تصوف کا استنباط: منتخب اردو تفاسیر کا مطالعہ | This research examines the intrinsic connection between the Qur’an and Sufi terminology to demonstrate that Islamic spirituality is deeply rooted in the divine scripture. Sufism—often regarded as the inner dimension of Islam—revolves around concepts like tazkiyah (purification), qurb (divine proximity), fana (annihilation of the self), baqa (subsistence), tawakkul (trust), kashf (unveiling), and ilham (inspiration), which are frequently assumed to be esoteric or extra-Qur’anic. By analyzing six renowned Urdu tafsirs—Tibyan al-Qur’an (Dr. Ghulam Rasool Saeedi), Bayan al-Qur’an (Ashraf Ali Thanwi), Tafsir Naeemi (Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan), Tafsir Haqqani (Abdul Haq Haqqani), Tafsir Hasanat (Abu al-Hasanat Qadri), and Ma’ariful Qur’an (Mufti Muhammad Shafi Usmani)—the study seeks to uncover how these spiritual concepts are derived and explained within Qur’anic verses. A thematic-analytical method was adopted, classifying Sufi terms into three categories: faith-related, ethics-related, and practice-related. Each term was then examined in light of its Qur’anic context and interpreted through the lens of classical Urdu exegesis. The analysis reveals that Sufi terminology is not foreign to the Qur’an but emerges organically from its spiritual teachings. The tafsirs affirm that mystical ideas such as fana, baqa, and muraqabah are supported by Qur’anic evidence and are harmoniously integrated with orthodox Islamic theology. In conclusion, the study validates that Qur’anic spirituality and Sufi tradition are interconnected paths, and when interpreted through classical tafsir, Sufism complements and deepens the understanding of Islam’s inner message. | اعلیٰ تعلیم یافتہ خواتین میں شادی سے گریز كارجحان: اسباب و محرکات کا اسلامی تعلیمات كی روشنی میں جائزہ | The changing social, educational, and economic dynamics of Pakistan have significantly influenced the marital trends of highly educated women, leading to an increasing pattern of marriage aversion or delayed marriages. This phenomenon is not merely a matter of personal preference but the combined outcome of social pressures, psychological concerns, economic challenges, and cultural expectations. Adopting a mixed-methods design, the study collected quantitative data from 150 postgraduate women through structured questionnaires and qualitative insights from 50 parents and Islamic scholars through semi-structured interviews. Islamabad and Rawalpindi were chosen only as sampling sites to represent the urban context. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS through descriptive statistics, correlation, chi-square tests, and regression analysis, while qualitative data were thematically coded. The findings revealed that extravagant wedding rituals, dowry pressures, lack of suitable matches, career priorities, family constraints, fear of losing independence, and unrealistic media portrayals are major contributors to women’s avoidance of marriage. The reliability of scales (Cronbach’s α = .84) and inter-coder agreement (κ = .79) ensured methodological rigor. The study concludes that although these factors strengthen the trend of marriage aversion, Islamic teachings emphasizing simplicity, piety, mutual respect, and compassion provide a comprehensive and balanced framework to address the issue. It is recommended that public awareness campaigns, premarital counseling, and educational reforms be aligned with Islamic principles to foster a dignified and stable marital culture. | Cosmic Evolution in the Light of Quranic Verses: A Study of Selected Tafaseer | The exploration of cosmic evolution through the lens of Quranic verses stands at the intersection of science, theology, and philosophy. This research thesis endeavors to delve into this intricate subject by analyzing selected Tafaseer (commentaries) of the Quran. The Quran, as the primary religious text of Islam, has been a source of contemplation and interpretation for scholars across centuries, offering insights not only into matters of faith but also into the natural world. The overarching objective of this study is to investigate how interpretations of Quranic verses by renowned scholars of Tafaseer shed light on the concept of cosmic evolution. By examining key passages from the Quran alongside the commentaries of scholars such as Al Jawahir Fi Tafseer al Quran, Bayan ul Quran and Tafseer Al Kauthar. This thesis aims to discern the nuances of their understanding regarding the origin, development, and purpose of the cosmos as elucidated within the Quranic framework. The methodology employed in this research involves textual analysis and systematic qualitative method of relevant Quranic verses and their interpretations from selected Tafaseer. Each Tafseer offers unique perspective influenced by linguistic, theological, and philosophical considerations, providing a rich tapestry of insights into the subject matter. Through comparative analysis and synthesis of these interpretations, this thesis aims to construct a comprehensive understanding of cosmic evolution as elucidated within the Quranic discourse. Moreover, this study aims to explore the compatibility between scientific theories of cosmic evolution and the interpretations presented in the selected Tafaseer. By critically examining the language and context of Quranic verses alongside contemporary scientific knowledge, this research seeks to identify areas of convergence and divergence, thereby contributing to the ongoing dialogue between religion and science. Ultimately, this research thesis seeks to enrich the discourse on cosmic evolution by offering a nuanced examination of Quranic verses through the lens of selected Tafaseer. By bridging the realms of religious interpretation and scientific inquiry, this study endeavors to foster a deeper understanding of the cosmic order as articulated within the Islamic tradition, while also engaging with contemporary scientific discourse on the origins and development of the universe.
