Abstract This thesis presents a comparative analysis of the methodology and style of "Awn al-Ma'bood" and "Bazl al-Majhood " which is a research effort based on the study of both commentaries of Sunan Abi Dawood. It includes a comparison of the methodology and style of these commentaries in terms of the translation of book titles and chapter headings, the chain of narration (isnad), the text (matn), and the explanation of hadith. This thesis consists of five chapters and a conclusion. The first chapter comprises introductory discussions.Chapter two examines the methodology adopted by both commentators in translating the book titles and chapter headings, reflecting their scholarly preferences and juristic arrangement.Chapter tree discusses the approach of both authors regarding the criticism and evaluation of the chains of narration (isnad), highlighting how they critically analyzed the narrators, chains, and rijāl (narrators of hadith).Chapter four presents a comparative study of the textual criticism of hadith, showcasing the research methods, analytical depth, and interpretative styles of both commentators.Chapter five explores their approach to the explanation of hadith and the derivation of rulings, comparing their insights into juristic points, differences among the Imams, and practical application.
