Abstract
With the dawn of scholarly endeavours to explain the evidences and proofs of the Prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH) and the attempts to compare these with the previous Prophets and their miracles and evidences, it became evident that in order to present the Prophethood and Divine revelation more eloquently and persuasively the logical and rational perspectives are to considered . This was done with a view to provide the rational arguments to address those who might not believe or accept the scriptural proofs from the Qur’an and Sunnah. From the early third century Hijri till now, almost all of the biographers have alluded to these theological questions despite the fact that they never met the Prophet. Hence, in-so-far as these theological readings of the Prophet’s biography are concerned, there are particularly well-known works of earlier scholars including Ash-Shifa bi Ta‘rif Huquq al-Mustafa, Zad al-Ma’ad and Ar-Rawd al-Unuf. This study aims to analyze the available theological debates on prophethood in these three works and in addition it also deals with the modern objections of atheists and orientalists and logical and rational doubts in light of these early works moreover a modern evaluation of these arguments has been presented to highlight the contemporary relevance of these themes. Keywords: Theological Debates, Miracles and Evidences, Divine revelation
