Abstract
Feminism is a movement for women struggling for gender equality in every sector, such as education, politics and many others.Feminism is one of the oldest movements in global history. This thesis deleves into the exploration of feminism within Urdu drama, with a specific focus on selected TV plays by Faseeh Bari Khan. Through a qualitative analysis of his works, this study aims to uncover the portrayal of women’s roles, agency, empowerment, and representation in the context of Pakistani society. By examining the thematic content, character dynamics and narrative structures employed in these dramas, this research seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of how Urdu media reflects and shapes perceptions of gender roles and feminism. Additionally, the study investigates the reception of these TV plays among audiences, shedding light on their impact on societal discourse surrounding gender equality and women’s rights. Overall, this thesis offers critical insights into the role of Urdu Drama as a medium for fostering feminine awareness and advancing feminist narratives in contemporary Pakistani culture. Under the theme, Faseeh Bari Khan’s Drama “ Qudoosi Sahab Ki Bewa” and “Ghisi Piti Muhabbat” have been selected. The thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter contains the introduction and basic discussion of subject while the second chapter existential identity and self- consciousness of the woman in both the plays have been examined. The third chapter is contist the sexual and gender qualities in the characters of both the plays have been examined. Fourth chapter examines the biological, internal and psychological characteristics of women in both plays. In fifth and the last chapter the similarities and differences between the two plays have been examined. Also, findings, conclusions recommendations have been included.
