Abstract
Topic of Ph.D. Dissertation أدب الرحلة بين الشيخ محمد بن ناصر العبودي والشيخ محمد تقي العثماني (دراسة تحليلية مقارنة) The Travels of Muhammad bin Nasir Al-Oboudi and Muhammad Taqi Othmani: A Comparative Study Travelogue is an important part of literature in any of the world's languages. All the nations have been interested in Travels/ journeys since ancient times. The travelogue has gained special importance in Islamic literature and many scholars have been known to be adventurous travelers in different periods of time. Although the world has become like a small village, thanks to modern media, and information about any place is within everyone's reach; however, travels still have a special place; as they convey to the reader information based on the writer's experience. The diversity of this information, in addition to the traveler's thoughts and impressions of his observations anywhere, offer the reader an opportunity to understand reality as it is. Every traveler looks at the situation anywhere from a different perspective, making each traveler's journey different from the other. This makes travelogues even more attractive in the age of globalization and technology. The history of Islam has seen too many great travelers who have had great effects in the literature of the travelogues and are still being read. Among them are Ibn Battuta, Muhammad bin Muhammad al-Idrisi, Ibn Jubair al-Andalusi, Ahmad ibn Fadlan, Ahmad bin Majid, Hasan al-Wazzan, Muhammad Abu al-Qasim Ibn Hawql, Abu Abdullah Shams al-Din Muhammad bin Ahmad al-Maqdisi, Abu al-Hasan al-Masoudi, Hassan al-Marrakishi and many others. In our time there are rarely traveler scholars such as Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasir Al-Oboudi and Sheikh Mohammed Taqi Othmani. It would not be an exaggeration if we say that they have traveled to every nook and corner of the world. And they told us their experiences in such a manner that their travelogues attract the readers to the extent that they become part of the scene. In this sense, I would like to make a comparative study between some travelogues of Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasir Al-Oboudi and of Sheikh Mohammad Taqi Othmani to obtain the degree of doctorate in Arabic Literature. Chapter Breakdown: Introduction: It includes definition of travel literature, a brief look at travelogues, an overview of travelogues and travelers in Islam, and a brief picture of travelogues in Urdu language.
