Abstract
The M.Phil Urdu research thesis is the study of presentation of fine arts in Urdu literary magazines. Two of the notable magazines of current era (Seep & Adbiyaat) are chosen to discuss and evaluate the presentation of fine arts among them. Various articles in these Urdu literary magazines covers different aspects of fine arts. Purpose of the research is to understand the relationship of literature and fine arts, to practically exert the aesthetic theory and to analyze the aesthetic features of Urdu articles published in specified magazines۔ Magazines & newspapers are influential for survival of language & literature. Urdu literary magazines & journals give new thematic essence and artistic dimensions to Urdu language & literature. One of the distinguished perspectives is the divulgement of fine arts in literary magazines through articles. Fine arts are the way of intimating aesthetic sense. In literature, fine arts consist of poetry, music, painting and sculpture. Society, man and fine arts are interconnected. Artists are the most sensitive people of society. They keenly observe the prospects of society, emotions of people & pains of everyone and unveil their empathy in piece of art. Alteration of ideas, perspectives and emotions gravitates fine arts to find wide new tracks to present public trends. This research paper comprehends various articles presenting fine arts composed in quarterly magazines “Seep” & “Adbiyaat”. Both magazines have allocated a separate section for the write-ups regarding fine arts. The articles published in these magazines fully reflect the necessity and importance of fine arts in contemporary era. This research thesis encompasses the analytical study of the articles, demonstration of aesthetic facets of the write-ups and analysis of contribution of these magazines in prompting fine arts. Qualitative & analytical research methodology is followed to acquire authenticity of collected data. The research paper is advantageous for artists, researchers and critics. The research paper comprises four chapters. First of which consists of Topic Introduction and basic debates regarding literature, fine arts, aesthetic criticism, article writing and literary journals. Second chapter “The role of ‘Seep’ in prompting of fine arts” consists of analytical study of selected write-ups composed on the topic of fine arts. The analysis is divided in various categories, such as history of art, artist and the art itself, according to the subject of articles. Third chapter “The role of ‘Adbiyaat’ in prompting of fine arts” covers the analysis of chosen essays written on various kinds of fine arts. The analytical study embeds different categories of fine arts according to subject-matter of the magazine’s write-ups. All the discussion of the research is briefly summarized in fourth chapter named “Conclusion, Research results & Recommendations”. Research results are derived and composed in this chapter. Besides, recommendations regarding research on fine arts & literary journals are given at the end of the last chapter.
