Abstract Title: Urdu Poetry and Resistance: A Study of resisting factors in Azad Kashmir`s Poetry Primarily, literature depicts resistance and retaliation and the history of Urdu literature is one of its most illustrious examples. People of literature have always raised their voice to effectively tackle the challenges posed by cruelty, oppression and injustice. One can see distinct presence of resistance in AJK literature, forcefully resisting cruelty and oppression whereas its poetry has its own unique share in vociferously highlighting political and social issues. Further more an attempt has been made to unveil state opressiol, degradation of social insititutes and tyranny through the use of literature. The dissertation under consideration consists of four sections; the first section deals with the basic arguments where resistance in Urdu literature has been described through poetry. At the same time, a brief description of prominent poets who emerged on the literary horizon of AJK and their literary services has been given. Similarly, the resistant streak found in AJK Urdu poetry has been highlighted in section two. Here an endeavour has been made to comprehend the resistance tendency of eminent poets by solely analysing their resistance poetry. The third section deals with resistance in AJK Ghazals and their contribution to highlighting state oppression, societal discrimination and other social issues. The last section is dedicated to developing an understanding of other literary tools such as Katats and anthem etc. with regard to resistance in literature. The final part of this section carries the conclusion of aforementioned arguments, their results along with proposed recommendations.
