Abstract Social Realism is a literary theory; its origin lies in the western writings in late 19th and early 20th century. This theory discuss about the social behavior, challenges and an orthodox in the social behavior and how society reacts towards these challenges. In literary writings it shows the reality of the society in all the possible aspects. My research work is firstly based on the translation of Noor-ul-huda shah’s short stories compiled book ‘kedaro’, translation from Sindhi to Urdu language.it consists of four short stories and one personal biography article of the writer. Then my research is based on analysis of these short stories in the context of social realism in the view of Sindhi culture and social behavior. Social realism describes the reality of society as it is in its reality. There is nothing presented outside the reality in social realism. The study has been divided into four chapters. First chapter presents, the introduction of my research topic, art of translation, rules of translation, methods of translation, brief introduction of the writer of ‘kedaro’, and basic discussions about social realism. Second chapter consists of ‘kedaro’s translation in Urdu. Third chapter consists of analytical study of ‘kedaro’ by Noor-ul-huda shah in the context of social realism. Fourth and last chapter presents the conclusion of my research work including overview of the research, results and some recommendations about the topic.
