Abstract The subject of my dissertation is the role of fiction and nostalgia in the study of selected fictions of the 21st century. Urdu fiction flourished under the influence of many trends and movements from the very beginning. Due to the migration that took place as a result of the formation of Pakistan , the individual became a victim of nostalgia .While the internet and electronic advances in the 21st century have shattered the boundaries of social distances, the past process of destroying relationships has also left one person isolated. This known loneliness also cause nostalgia which causes one to take refuge in the memories of the past. Nostalgia is basically a psychological phenomenon that is interrupted as a recollection of the past. The word nostalgia was first used in the 17th century by Jonas Hoffer, a Swiss physician to describe homecoming or the desire to return home. It is now considered and metaphor for happy events and memories of the past. Every writer Expresses nostalgia in one way or another in his writings. Intezar Hussain migrated from India and settled in Pakistan but here often started to miss his hometown due to feelings of alienation so nostalgia can be seen in his writings. Similarly, in the myths of Mohammad Hameed Shahid and Mohammad Asim Butt, the contemporary man seems to be suffering from nostalgia. The fiction of these three writers is a perfect reflection of the elements of nostalgia
