Abstract Faiz Ahmed Faiz in Urdu and Mahmoud Darwish in Arabic are known for their resistance poetry. Both of them raise their voice against every form of exploitation. Whether the occupation of foreign powers or the exploitation of local elites, they used their pen to register their protest. Resistance, Exile and Alienation are three prominent features of both the poets. This research is an attempt to go through a comparative study of the poets in the context of above three characteristics. The thesis consists of five chapters: First chapter includes introduction of the work, research questions and methodology following by explanation of key terms and brief introduction of poets under discussion. In second chapter, resistance poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Mahmoud Darwish is compared. Aspects of local dictatorship, foreign exploiting forces along with injustice in society imposed by various elites classes are studied in the poetry of both the poets. In third chapter, dimensions of exile are studied in the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Mahmoud Darwish. Various aspects of exile are explored, whether physical or mental. In fourth chapter, different dimensions of alienation in the works of both the poets are the focus of study. After discussing the subject separately in the poetry of both the poets, a comparative study is carried out. Fifth chapter includes findings, conclusion and recommendations .
