Abstract The traditions and culture of society has been reflected in novels since ages. We come to know about mores and customs of specific region and era through novels. Akhtar Raza Saleemi has beautifully portrayed the norms, conventions and culture of “Hazara” in his famous novels “Junder” and “Jagay Hain Khawab Main” My thesis is is Consit of four chapters. The first chapter of the research work focused on basic/ specific information about the topic. The chapter is further divided into two parts. The first part through light on culture and its aspects, origin of culture and depiction of culture in Urdu novel. Whereas the second part highlights the brief introduction of the writer and his works. In the second chapter of the thesis, cultural elements in Akhtar Raza’s novel “Jagay Hain Khawab Main” are discussed. The chapter is further divided into two sections characters and environment is studied in the first section whereas cultural elements and its geograpghical origin are narrated in the second section. In the third chapter environment and characters of the novel “Junder” by Akhtar Raza Saleemi are discussed with respect to the cultural aspect. The origin of convention and tradition narrated in the first segment while clothing norms and customs, lifestyle, erudition, elucidated, religious faiths and beliefs are discussed in second section. In the fourth chapter, comparative study, general doservation, results and suggestions are explained.
