Abstract The dissertation is a comparative study of the biographies of Ada Jaffari and Kishwar Naheed with reference to contemporary consciousness. The first chapter “Introduction of the Topic and Preliminary / Basic Discussions” presents the definition of contemporary consciousness and biography and the tradition of consciousness in biography. In the same chapter, the short introduction to Ada Jaffari and Kishwar Naheed’s services to literature has been given. In the second chapter, the idea of contemporary consciousness in the biographies of Ada Jaffari and Kishwar Naheed has been viewed in the social contexts. The third chapter throws light on political situation of their age. The fourth chapter reveals the contemporary literary traditions. The fifth and the last chapter concludes the whole discussion and presents collective results. In all the chapters, the biographies of Ada Jaffari and Kishwar Naheed have been analyzed and commonalities and differences have been searched out.
