Abstract This research has been conducted to review the standard of Urdu language in Pakistani Urdu newspapers. For this study three major Urdu newspapers have been selected. These are Roznama Jang, Roznama Express and Roznama Duniya. In this technological era, electronic devices have shrunk the world and make easier and closer to each other to read newspapers. A large number of people read Urdu newspapers on their devices. In such circumstances and environment, it is very important for newspapers to maintain a standard language. This study mainly deals with the linguistics variations and errors of these newspapers. The research focuses spelling and grammar mistakes of these newspapers. It also includes a review of spelling rules of newspapers and usage of foreign language word especially English words. In this regards, historical background has also been presented in this thesis. Documentary method of research is used in this study. Mainly, primary resources have been used to analyze and find out the facts. After this study, it would be possible to compare the different Urdu newspapers with each other. This study will make it easier to set the standard of Urdu language. This research thesis has been divided into five chapters. First chapter is about the introduction of the research problem. It introduces the Urdu newspapers background along with their editorial boards. It also briefed about the objective of the research. Second chapter deals with spelling review of Urdu newspapers. It also gives an account of spelling and grammatical rules importance in newspapers. Third chapter deals with grammatical and spelling analysis of selected Urdu newspapers. A detail comparison has been presented in this chapter. Fourth chapter gives a comparison of Urdu newspapers in the light of errors and omission in writings. Fifth chapter presents the analysis of the whole study in detail. It gives some conclusion about the language of Urdu newspapers.
