Abstract Mushtaq Qamar is one of the most prominent writers of light essay (Inshaia) in Urdu. He started writing light/personal essays when this genre was in its introduction phase in Urdu. He also wrote short stories and a novel. He is a writer having distinguished style of writing which place him at an important place among his contemporaries. The present research is stylistic study of his prose with a comparative study of his writing style in essays i.e. non-fition and his short stories i.e. fiction. The thesis comprises of four chapters: First chapter includes the details of research topic, its scope and methodology followed by introductory and fundamental issues about prose and its style. Introduction of the writer Mushtaq Qamar is also a part of this chapter. Second chapter is the stylistic study of Mushtaq Qamar’s non-fiction whereas third chapter focuses his fiction with special reference to his short stoties in the same context. The fourth one includes conclusion, findings followed by a few recommendations.
